WARNING: Sappy Poppy Birthday Post Ahead

Here is a picture of when I first met my dear Poppy. She was two weeks old (when she was my Little Potato, who is now almost half my size) so I knew I shouldn't pick from the litter then and there as I wanted to see their personalities to make sure I found the perfect fit and those personalities would not have begun to bloom at that point. I immediately saw Poppy and fell in love but I kept level headed and knew I would be back in another 4 weeks to make my decision. When that 4 weeks came I knew I wanted a dog with independence, that would be ok when I was at uni or work all day, but who was also good with people and happy to cuddle. I found that perfectly in Poppy. When Hannah let the litter out, Poppy ran straight up to me, the most confident of her litter, and curled up in my lap.

Looking over the last 2 years Poppy has been the best thing for me. She is crazy and WAY too smart for her own good but when I'm having a bad day she knows. When she knows somethings up she'll stop playing and sit with me, after a minute she will start trying to get me to play and bring a smile to my face. I probably talk to Poppy more than I talk to people sometimes but she gives me something to talk about when I'm having a bad social day (I'm sure no one's sick of hearing about her yet...!). She helps me to get out of the house when I normally might not and has helped me to discover what I want to do with my life, being my practice dog for my dog training techniques.

I am so thankful that my Little Potato came into my life when she did, I can't imagine where I'd be without her. So yeah, a lot of people may think that I talk about her too much, or maybe even humanise her too much, but if you could see the difference she's made in my life you would do that too!

So happy birthday Poppy, thank you for picking me that day and proving every day since that you were the perfect dog to come into my life!
